Aluminium alkyls are used as catalyst components for production of polyolefin plastics and synthetic rubber using Ziegler catalysts, for dimerisation of olefins, and many more.
Due to the spontaneous ignition of aluminium alkyls, the risk of burns and burning clothing is particularly high in case of an accident. That is why all persons handling aluminium alkyls must wear flame-retardant protective clothing. In addition to good fire protection, protective clothing should also offer fast take-off, low weight and sufficient liberty of action when performing manual work and when climbing stairs.
The protective clothing is tested and certified according to EN 11612.
